The PG Nursery professional is responsible for overseeing plant growth, ensuring optimal environmental conditions, maintaining nursery stock, and assisting in research or commercial nursery operations. They may also work with plant breeding, pest control, and sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant Care & Maintenance
Monitor and maintain plants, including watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
Identify and manage plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.
Ensure proper soil preparation and planting techniques.
Nursery Operations
Maintain greenhouse and nursery facilities.
Monitor temperature, humidity, and irrigation systems.
Manage inventory and order necessary supplies (e.g., seeds, fertilizers, and tools).
Research & Development (if applicable)
Conduct plant experiments, collect data, and support agricultural research.
Assist in plant breeding programs and new species development.
Collaborate with agricultural scientists and researchers.
Customer Service & Sales (if applicable)
Assist customers with selecting plants and providing care instructions.
Manage retail nursery operations and ensure product quality.
Coordinate with suppliers and distributors for sales and marketing.
Administrative Duties
Maintain records of plant growth, treatments, and sales.
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Train and supervise junior staff or nursery workers

Qualification &
Skills
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or related field.
Knowledge of plant biology, nursery management, and pest control.
Experience in greenhouse/nursery operations is an advantage.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work outdoors and handle physical labor.
Work Environment:
Mostly outdoors or in greenhouses.
May involve lifting, bending, and working in varying weather conditions.
Some roles require travel for research, procurement, or sales.
